Boulder Tree Cabling

Do you need tree cabling in the greater Boulder area? Our certified arborists live and work in Boulder County and are dedicated to preserving and maintaining the health of our neighborhood’s great trees. As trees grow, they can often develop weak forks that can split. To restrict this splitting and prolong the life of a tree cables are used in an arbor technique called tree cabling. In the case where splitting has begun, cabling can still be implemented.

In Boulder, extreme snow and ice build up is common which stresses trees with weight. A reinforced tree can last through these winter elements and withstand the stress. Sometimes in Boulder we see an early snowfall that happens even before the leaves have completely dropped. In these cases, the leaves act to hold even more snow and ice causing severe stress to trees. If you have a tree that you would like to protect it is a good idea to be proactive in order to extend the tree’s life.

Besides snow, Boulder County is home to very high winds. Adding cables between major limbs reduces stress and helps reinforce the tree to withstand periods of strong wind gusts. Not only does this protect your tree’s limbs but it also secures your property from falling limbs that can damage your home, car, or utility lines.

Boulder Tree Bracing

The crotches in trees can become strained due to wind snow and ice so bracing hardware is added to provide for structural support. For larger or aged trees with a split in a primary trunk crotch, bracing is used to give concentrated support and reduce the twisting stress on the tree. A metal rod is inserted through the weakened crotch, and supporting cables are connected above it. Depending on where the risk is, threaded bracing rods can also be introduced through multiple tree stems for added support if needed.

After our certified arborist concludes a tree risk assessment, there are a number of other things that can be done to reduce the risk of a tree for the homeowner. Branches can be pruned to reduce the weight of the upper parts of the tree which reduce strain. Bracing and Cabling effectively increases the lifespan of a tree. Reinholt has braced and successfully saved trees in Boulder County since 2003.
